Cimo Fränkel has released his latest album, a deluxe version of his Cimo Fränkel LP. Listening to the project, we fall upon the singer’s stunning live cover of Cam’s track ‘Burning House’, a challenging song to reinterpret, but Cimo has done just that and more; he has stripped it down to its soul.

Yearning, the single feels like the soundtrack to a romance film. Two lovers separate, ending a quick-burning summer fling. The years pass, but their feelings don’t. Naturally, they find themselves longing for each other, although they know that what they desire most can never be. The ending is too tragic to bear so we sit on the edge of our seats waiting, hoping that they will reunite.
The accompanying guitar paints the picture: strings reverberate with each pluck, forming a memorable lick. It is the bed that Cimo’s lyrics lie on. Restless, each lyric reflects on unrealized romance, remembering what was, and resenting what could have been.
