South African artist Tyla released her spicy new single ‘Water‘ via Fax and Epic Records on July 28, 2023. The track rapidly gained widespread attention due to a popular “dance challenge” on TikTok. ‘Water‘ propelled Tyla into the record books as the youngest-ever South African artist and the first solo South African artist in 55 years to make an entry into the prestigious US Billboard Hot 100 chart since Hugh Masekela‘s “Grazing in the Grass” in 1968. The song’s success extended internationally, reaching the number one spot in New Zealand and securing a position within the top ten in several countries, including Australia, Denmark, the Netherlands, United Kingdom, UAE, Philippines, South Africa, Ireland, and Sweden.
The track even prompted a performance on the ever popular ‘Tonight Show’ with Jimmy Fallon, as the young Tyla shows no signs in slowing down in her rapid rise to the top.
