Triple-platinum soul virtuoso Alain Clark, shared his newest single ‘Pressed Out Emotions’ on 6 September via A Sides. The remarkable single premiered on notable tastemaker NOTION.
Alain has been involved in the music industry for over a decade, and was signed to Warner Music UK in 2009. Since then, he’s received a string of awards including the Edison Award and the Silver Harp Award for achieving triple platinum physical sales in The Netherlands, as well as opening for global superstar acts such as Amy Winehouse, Lenny Kravitz and Diana Ross.
The Dutch-born musician currently resides between Amsterdam and Los Angeles, and started writing songs at nine-years-old, with his first song dedicated to a girl he was interested in. Alain was heavily influenced by his father’s Soul Cover band, titled Soulful Blues Quality and spent most of his youth performing with them.
‘Pressed Out Emotions’ feels like a sunny Sunday drive, with a cool breeze gently caressing your skin. It was produced and mixed by David Michael Ott (who’s worked with A Tribe Called Quest), mastered by Mike Bozzi (Kendrick Lamar, The Weeknd) and written by Alain, David Michael Ott as well as Alex Duncan VI. In the single, Alain’s vocals melt marvellously over the jazz, R&B and soul infused track, with the sumptuous bass guitar and drums creating a dramatic yet satisfying momentum.
Alain shared: “Recording ‘Pressed Out Emotions’ with James Gadson on drums and Pino Palladino on bass was like going to the groove casino with super favourable odds. The track to me feels like an all analog, lowrider cruise down Crenshaw Blvd, car windows down with a golden hour palm tree backdrop.”
