vaghy teams up with Ohnody on ethereal video and single ‘When The Night Falls’

Renowned classical composer vaghy collaborated with interdisciplinary artist Ohnody on his latest offering ‘When The Night Falls’ released October 11th via Théque Records. The magical music video premiered on acclaimed tastemaker Metal Magazine. The combination of vaghy and Ohnody is ingenious, with the video illustrating the power of this monumental collaboration.

vaghy has had quite an extensive career so far, and began classical piano training at 6-years-old. His music has been supported by the likes of Worldwide FM and KEXP, while he’s also received praise from Decoded Magazine and FAZE Mag. Both artists are based in Budapest, Hungary and are renowned for their artistic vision and might. Ohnody was the first ambassador of Hungary’s Spotify Equal campaign last year, and is known for her ability to immaculately fuse visual art and poetry with her moving vocals.

The music video is as profound as the track itself. It’s a stunning cinematic experience featuring a phenomenal solo performance by a dancer in an empty home, while alternating between shots inside the home and outdoors, as the sun begins to fade during twilight. There’s something melancholic and slightly ominous about the video, which is balanced out by an air of hope and renewal. The single was produced by both vaghy and Ohnody. In terms of production, it’s quite minimalist as vaghy’s piano melody leads the way. Ohnody’s vocals and songwriting are absolutely breathtaking, and elevates the track to unprecedented heights. It features subtle yet powerful electronic music effects, and has an unmissable atmosphere of grief as well as transformation.

Its dual nature inspired me to find the boundary that matches the line “when the night falls”—a special moment when light and dark coexist. The dancer performs inside a house with a small tree at its center, while simultaneously dancing in a forest with a tiny house in the middle. This duality is enhanced by shooting the entire music video during the “blue hour” – that magical time after sunset when the night falls”.
