A Journey into Sound with the Avant-Pop Musings of Fifi Rong

Stream/download: ‘Only Man’

Avant-pop songstress Fifi Rong, the multi-talented artist based in London, shares her latest single ‘Only Man’ today. This poetic piece threads eerily through a soundscape reminiscent of unrequited love and pregnant emotions. ‘Only Man’ makes the heart ache for a kind of tragic nostalgia and Fifi Rong touches the universality of a soul longing for a love not quite within our reach, delivering a wispy bass beaten vocal escapade.

Taken from her upcoming solo and self – produced album, There Is A Funeral In My Heart For Every Man I Loved, the Beijing born artist has collaborated with the likes of Skepta (on his hugely successful UK No. 2, Mercury Prize-winning album Konnichiwa) as well as Tricky, Yello, and Phaeleh, and Emika.

Due to the laurels of her own work as well as these impressive collaborations, the whimsically independent Fifi Rong has received support from The Guardian, The Times, NME, FACT Mag, The Irish Times, Dancing Astronaut, Earmilk, CLASH Magazine, Complex, Crack Magazine and The Line of Best Fit. Not only has the singer received over 3.2 million plays across major streaming platforms, the support for her continues. With her woven styled sound, touching on the Trip-hop stylings of Portishead, Helicopter Girl and Tricky to the acapella voices of a shaman from Peru, we can’t help but get wrapped up into the beauty and tragedy of her latest single ‘Only Man’
