R&B duo Majid Jordan team up with musicians MK and Paul Woolford

Dance music behemoth MK returns this spring with his brand new single “Teardrops”.

Teardrops sees MK collaborating with UK super-producer Paul Woolford and Toronto-based visionary duo Majid Jordan. Together this dream team has created a melancholic piano house anthem with an R&B twist that is sure to soundtrack 2022.

One of house music’s first superstars, Detroit native MK (real name Marc Kinchen) is a record producer, DJ and remixer who boasts over 600 million streams across his esteemed career. His first hits “Burning”, “ Always”, “4You” and classic remixes such as ‘‘Push The Feeling On’ by Nightcrawlers defined the deeper shade of US House…a sound that has continued to influence producers globally. Coaxed back into the world of dance music after working behind the scenes with Quincy Jones and Will Smith, and producing for SWV and 702, he quickly resumed his prolific output of records.  The power of his productions undiminished, in 2014  his rework of ‘Look Right Through’ by Storm Queen hit #1 in the UK singles chart. It was swiftly followed up with ‘Pieces Of Me’, ‘17’ and ‘Back & Forth’, singles that all went platinum. More recently he made a career-affirming appearance in the new Jaguar F-PACE advert, (also overseeing the creation of the musical component of the campaign), before dropping single ‘Chemical’, in the summer 2021 followed by his huge remix of Celeste’s “Stop This Flame”.

Paul Woolford has been redefining and reinventing all shapes of dance music for over 20 years. He has applied his touch to hundreds of records including the work of Dua Lipa, Sam Smith, Depeche Mode, Chemical Brothers, Lana Del Rey, Disclosure, Jamie XX and countless more, whilst collaborating with Diplo, Kareen Lomax and a constant revolving door of talent. His music has soundtracked runways for Fendi, Givenchy, Chloe, Marc Jacobs and plenty more and he has provided sound design for Hollywood trailers including Blade Runner 2049. As a DJ he tours the world constantly and cites a combination of the raw energy of pirate radio airwaves, a lifetime of collecting records and the enlightenment of his art school days as key influences.

Visionary duo Majid Jordan (singer Majid Al-Maskati and producer Jordan Ullman) have been a go-to for R&B/Dance playlist aficionados since 2013. The release of their debut EP ‘Afterhours’ turned heads which led them on to co-producing and writing Drake’s 6x-platinum smash “Hold On We’re Going Home” the same year. Acclaimed by critics and listeners alike, Majid and Jordan embarked on a year-long world tour and successful festival run before releasing “Caught Up” ft. Khalid in 2019 and their latest album Wildest Dreams in 2021. Since their last release, the duo have been consumed in developing their sound. Deconstructing. Inventing. Expanding.

As the world has opened up, MK’s tour diary has begun to fill up – meaning fans will get the chance to dance along to “Teardrops” on the dancefloor in the coming months. This includes a summer residency alongside  Calvin Harris at Ushuaia, Ibiza, plus bookings at coveted festivals such as Creamfields in the UK, Lollapalooza in Chicago, and Movement in his hometown of Detroit.
