Neacal’s previously released singles from the album received support from the likes of NOTION and CLASH. The album was exclusively written, produced and mixed by Neacal, illustrating his prowess and vision as an artist. Aside from his technical ability, Neacal is a masterful storyteller with Stranger from Long Ago perfectly reflecting this. While Neacal finds inspiration from the likes of Agnes Obel and Owen Pallett, he has crafted his own space in the industry with intention, precision and determination.

Each track on the album serves as a puzzle piece in Neacal’s story about what he’s endured over the last three years. Neacal has poured his heart and soul into every inch of each song and it shows. From the profound soundscape of the opening track ‘The Bell’ (which was also released as his debut single), to his refreshing take on death and rebirth in ‘Unrest’, to ‘Another Castle’ which serves as a culminating point in the album (and his personal story), the album is courageous, moving and triumphant.

Neacal shared: “These songs, while being unraveled over the course of the last 3 years, became a refuge in my darkest months. Loss of loved ones, loss of home, loss of the life as I knew it—all of this pain transformed into these lyrics and melodies. And now it’s time for them to live their own life in this world.”
