I’MMORTAL Explores the Edge of Humanity with Uncanny Valley

Multi-modal pop innovator I’MMORTAL is set to drop her latest single, ‘Uncanny Valley’, on 14 February 2025 via her Immortality imprint. Renowned for her genre-defying productions and striking visuals, the New York and London-based artist continues to push sonic boundaries following the success of ‘Supervillain’ and ‘KILLED U IN A DREAM’. With nearly a quarter of a million Spotify streams and praise from CLASH Magazine, EARMILK, and Wonderland, I’MMORTAL is carving out a distinct space in the avant-pop world.

Drawing inspiration from the eerie concept of the same name, ‘Uncanny Valley’ explores the blurred line between reality and artificiality through ominous sound effects, glitchy autotune, and a pulsating bassline. The track’s lyrics introduces a cryptic figure caught between human and machine, leaving listeners to question whether an AI is confronting a sociopathic human, or vice versa. A pounding four-on-the-floor beat propels the track into a hypnotic, club-ready moment before it dissolves into an unsettling digital haze.

“I wanted the entire song to capture the discomfort of seeing something almost human, but not quite,” I’MMORTAL shares. “I also felt it was a fitting metaphor for people whose morals are so questionable that they seem inhuman.” With Uncanny Valley’, she further cements herself as a visionary force in electronic music, delivering a track that is as thought-provoking as it is danceable.
