Musician Ian Mellencamp makes a striking comeback with his new single, ‘S&C (Dopamine Sheen)’ released on September 20th 2024. The thrilling track was produced right before his open-heart surgery in 2021 and blends elements of alternative pop, electronica and hip hop while Ian lays his emotions bare with through the track’s lyrics.
The single has an exhilarating energy to it, along with unwavering authenticity as Ian showcases his artistic prowess as a producer and singer-songwriter. ‘S&C (Dopamine Sheen)’ touches on themes of obsession, addiction and the constant search for pleasure. Ian reveals; “‘S&C (Dopamine Sheen)’ is the last piece I wrote and produced before my surgery, reflecting my journey through hedonism, self-expression, and self-destruction” .

‘S&C (Dopamine Sheen)’ features his trademark mix of vocals, drums, bass and original samples. He describes it as “a raw journey through addiction, obsession, compulsion, and fixation… forever chasing the dopamine sheen.”
There’s also an exceptional music video to accompany the single, which sees Ian as the main character on a dancefloor, singing, screaming and dancing in a frantic manner, emphasising the erratic and compulsive nature of the song and its lyrics. The lighting is low and dark, with trippy visual effects adding to the hot and cold nature of the song.
