Known for his dark, cinematic approach to electronic music, Das Mörtal has established himself within the international synthwave scene, accumulating over 32 million Spotify streams and performing nearly 100 live shows since 2015. His career includes appearances at Osheaga, Transmusicales, FME and MEG, alongside supporting performances for Vitalic, Perturbator and Carpenter Brut. Drawing inspiration from German techno, science-fiction soundtracks and experimental electronic music, the Montréal based producer has developed a sound rooted in dystopian atmospheres and nostalgic synthesisers. Following his 2025 EP ‘ORIGINS’, his latest project, ‘DECVY I’, marks the beginning of a planned trilogy exploring physical deterioration and psychological distress.
Written during a period of personal health challenges, ‘DECVY I’ blends darkwave, witch house, techno and trance, incorporating brooding synthesisers, forceful percussion and atmospheric sound design. Across seven tracks, the project explores themes of Physical pain, emotional turmoil and exhaustion. Opening track ‘DRAIN ME’ introduces trance and punk influences, while ‘GHOST’ and ‘PARASITE’ explore grief and the experience of illness. The album’s focus single, ‘RESTLESS’, combines dreamlike synth melodies, deep basslines and retro inspired percussion with lyrics addressing sleeplessness and isolation. Gradually building in intensity, the track culminates in a powerful instrumental passage that captures the tension running throughout the project.
Reflecting on the personal experiences that shaped the release, Das Mörtal shares:

The mini album also features ‘NO CONTROL’, ‘THE ENDLESS’ and closing track ‘IT KEEPS ME UP’, each exploring different aspects of physical and emotional struggle. Through its combination of darker electronic styles and deeply personal songwriting, ‘DECVY I’ introduces the first instalment of an ambitious three-part project.
