Los Angeles-based vocalist Jen Awad and acclaimed composer Will Bates joined forces on the dramatic and evocative single ‘Doomed to Loving You’, which released on 11 September.
The single premiered on Paramount+’s breakout hit Tony & Ziva, and was first revealed by Collider. Will Bates and Jen Awad met through photographer Diana Gomez, and after a spontaneous trip to Chateau Marmont, Will shared a song idea with Jen, who became hooked as soon as she heard the track’s opening bars. On that same night, Jen began writing the lyrics to the song and the emotive hook; “I’m doomed to loving you.”
The track is as interesting and extravagant as its back story. Jen’s remarkable vocals soar boldly among the sublime sound design and composition. The track is driven by brooding strings and a stirring beat which immerse the listener in the melancholy, yearning and pain that the lyrics convey.
