Skye Holland has released ‘Automatic’ via Prodigy Records. The Victoria-based singer-songwriter first broke into music at ten in Tokyo when she was scouted for the Japanese teen pop group HappyNs. She then moved to Canada at twelve and steadily sharpened her craft. She has five singles on the Billboard Dance/Mix Show US National Airplay Chart, with the Steve Kroeger collab ‘So Close’ reaching number ten on that chart and number three on Mediabase Dance. Additional Steve Kroeger collaborations like ‘Through The Dark’ gained support from Billboard Canada and EDM.com, while ‘Lie’ reached number twenty-seven on the Billboard Adult Top 40 and was a breakout on Ryan Seacrest’s American Top 40.
With ‘Automatic,’ Skye Holland dives boldly into Drum and Bass for the first time, leaving behind her signature dance-pop polish for a surging, high-octane groove that signals a fearless evolution. The track pulses with percussion and a deep, rumbling reese bass, injecting a grounded energy that sets it apart from her earlier work. Steve Kroeger’s production keeps things crisp with replay value, but the DnB backbone introduces a thrilling tension, amplifying the song’s theme of effortless, unrequited love. This new direction shows Skye pushing her creative boundaries, channeling the genre’s driving force to make her songwriting more dynamic and kinetic, all while maintaining the smooth, heartfelt vocals that define her sound. Rather than a fleeting experiment, ‘Automatic’ feels like an artist confidently expanding her horizons, letting the beat carry the emotional depth she has carefully crafted over the years.
Skye Holland had this to say: “‘Automatic’ is about that effortless connection with someone. When being together just feels natural, cinematic, like it was always meant to happen. It’s magnetic, it just is. Finding the spark in the chaos and moving through it together.”
