Textbook Maneuver’s New Cut Evokes an Honest take on an ‘Adrenaline Slip’

Out today, October 17, 2025, Textbook Maneuver serves up a fresh spin on ‘Adrenaline Slip‘, paired with a new video via Life Science Records, LLC; the track originally led his 2025 album of the same name. The alias belongs to Michael Keane, who grew up in the Bronx and now bases in New Jersey, channeling his formal piano background into gritty, self-made electronic work. He’s hit nearly 130,000 streams so far, earning traction in IDM and experimental circles through interviews at Magnetic Magazine and Illustrate Magazine, and features across WWAM (We Write About Music), Music For All in Brazil, and Good Music Radar. Influences run deep from Genesis during the Duke phase, Rush, Gary Numan, right through to The Postal Service, U.N.K.L.E., and Phantogram, letting him merge IDM’s sharp logic with ambient washes and progressive electronica—stuff that’s equally at home scoring screens or standalone listens. His approach leans on live tweaks and bold sound plays, dodging labels yet staying grounded, much like peers Jon Hopkins or Nils Frahm, or the glitchy vibes of Boards of Canada, Aphex Twin, and Squarepusher.

On the latest version of ‘Adrenaline Slip‘, rhythms morph and tumble toward a steady synth foundation of the track that give direction for the percussion, faint sparkles, and layered effects drive towards a climax that feels just out of reach. Keane navigates the production with perfectly timed breaks, allowing the listener to catch a break and absorb the sonic complexities before wrapping up in a  high-speed drum and bass- Punk like groove, cementing his signature style on IDM’s layered demands.

Textbook Maneuver shared: “Adrenaline Slip‘ was the song I composed that hit me the most, in a good way. I knew I wanted a killer track to become the lead track and the title of the album. I had come up with the name “Adrenaline Slip” before I had the song. I am trying to capture those moments of adrenaline rush, like skateboarding, dancing, roller blading, just hanging out with friends, whatever gives you a rush. I find, in those moments, there is also a moment of calm because you are doing something that you love or enjoy with people that you are connecting with in the moment. So that is the “slip” part. The feeling slips into calm for a moment but then goes back to adrenaline. This is why the song has its very EDM moments but then slower, synth/ prog chillout sections and it all ends in an uptempo almost punk rock speed.
