‘Fantasy’ was born from a moment of loss and uncertainty. Inspired by drive-through videos of wealthy neighborhoods, Dexter in the Newsagent channeled childhood visions of riches: the sleek car, the endless wardrobe, the personal chef. She calls the track fancy and dreamy, conjuring a self-made millionaire’s world rather than recounting real-life fortune. This imaginative spirit pulses through the single, while Iris Luz’s phone-box video delivers a bold visual anchor for the theme.
Dexter in the Newsagent shared: “I wrote this song earlier this year when I lost a bunch of money and was feeling quite lost. I was watching random car drive-through videos of rich areas on youtube and I wanted to write a song about money from the perspective we all have when you’re a kid and you just wonder what it’s like to have a big fancy car, walk in wardrobe or a chef. That’s where the song came from and I love everything about how fancy and dreamy it feels, it’s like my own fantasy world where I am a millionaire.”
