This past weekend KATSEYE released the music video for ‘Hootie Frutti’ in tandem with their third EP WILD, which arrived August 14 through HYBE x Geffen. Assembled via Dream Academy, the lineup of Daniela Avanzini, Lara Raj, Megan Skiendiel, Sophia Laforteza and Yoonchae Jeung has moved quickly from debut EP SIS (Soft Is Strong) to 2025’s BEAUTIFUL CHAOS, a Billboard 200 top-five set that brought Grammy nods for Best New Artist and Best Pop Duo/Group Performance. WILD marks their first project recorded without Manon Bannerman (still on hiatus) and arrives as Sophia Laforteza begins her own break for mental health, though she features in the new clip.
The track builds on Brazilian phonk percussion and a driving Latin-influenced rhythm, layering maximalist pop production around a Portuguese opening line and verses that play with desirability and party-commanding attitude. Directed by Alfred Marroquin, the video drops the group into a warehouse-style underground Brazilian party that starts with the members battling heat, then explodes into synchronized, stamina-heavy dance work in bright ensembles. Water rains from the ceiling, the floor gets soaked, and playful elements like slime appear while the relentless beat echoes Britney Spears’ ‘I’m a Slave 4 U’ and matches the song’s heavy bass and buoyant pre-chorus synths.
WILD also houses prior singles ‘PINKY UP’ and ‘Animal’ (the latter co-written with Ed Sheeran), and the full package sets up the Wildworld Tour that kicks off September 1 in Dublin before heading through major arenas and ending in Mexico City in late November. With Thom Bridges on production duties, ‘Hootie Frutti’ locks in the EP’s high-energy core and keeps KATSEYE moving at the same accelerated pace that has defined their first two years.
